This knife block is well crafted and gorgeous in my kitchen - like kitchen art. Item arrived very quickly as I did not specifying engraving. This makes a great gift! I would love to see some wooden plugs smaller than the slot length; in the same wood; which could be purchased in addition to make some of the slots small enough to accommodate paring knives/small sharp knives. Currently the handles on those hang too low out of the slot (I was able to rig something so that the paring knives also sit well in the block). There is a tiered knife block which works but would be too large for my counter space. Overall a beautiful, high quality item!
